Lawn Renovations

Our lawn renovation service is a complete transformation for tired, patchy, or unhealthy lawns. We combine all the right components, explained below to rebuild your lawn from the ground up. The result is a thicker, greener, healthier and a level lawn that’s built to thrive long term in New Zealand conditions.

Typically lawn renovations are done in spring to early summer and again in Autumn.

Scarifying

Over time, lawns can build up a thick layer of thatch, dead grass, and organic matter that restricts water, nutrients, and air from reaching the root zone. Scarifying removes this build up, helping your lawn breathe and encouraging stronger, healthier growth. It's an essential step for a successful lawn renovation.

Core Aeration

Core aeration removes small plugs of soil to relieve compaction and improve root development, drainage, and overall turf health. The result is a stronger, more resilient lawn that can better withstand wear, drought, and seasonal stress.

Leveling + Top Dressing

Uneven lawns can create mowing difficulties, poor drainage, and an untidy appearance. Levelling and top dressing helps smooth out bumps, fill low spots, and improve the overall quality of your soil profile, creating a more uniform and attractive lawn surface. This process also promotes healthier turf growth and is a key step in achieving a premium, golf course style finish. Top dressing is either done with a compost soil (Mix of screened top soil, compost and sand) or done with sand only.

Seeding or "Readylawn"

With seeding, we select the right grass type based on factors like sun exposure, shade, soil type, and drought tolerance to ensure long-term success and a lawn suited to your environment.
We normally use pure, high quality grass types as this is then much easier to maintain and troubleshoot issues in future.

"Ready lawn" could also be a possible option, depending on the project.

Other essentials included

Starter Fertiliser is essential to spread at time of seeding along with Pre emergents.  Pre emergent minimises the amount of weeds that can grow during seed germination.

Other important liquid fertilisers and chemicals is also sprayed at time of seeding and or within first few weeks of germination. It can vary project to project but generally it includes products designed to accelerate growth and improve the health of the roots and soil.
